A style of striking. Uses both hands and feet for punches and kicks. Uses boxing gloves, not the open-hand grappling gloves like in MMA.

Wrestling. greco roman, submission, freestyle. A great base for MMA. Wresting is very popular in the USA. Not very popular otherwise. In today’s rules, takedowns and top control are great for scoring points, so wrestlers tend to do very well in the UFC.

Judo. A type of grappling from Japan. Muay Thai. Otherwise known as thai boxing. It uses eight limbs for striking: two hands, two feet (shins,) two knees, two elbows.

Grappling. Typically Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, or BJJ. Uses submissions. Practiced in “gi” and “no gi” variations. (In modern MMA, fighters do not wear the gi.)
